Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux launched his own cryptocurrency this past Thursday. The business opportunities continue to roll in for college athletes after the changes to NCAA's name, image and likeness rules arrived July.
The coin ($JREAM) will be traded only on Rally, a digital platform service which helps creators grow and build their own economic brand. The coin's name is coorelated with Jream Foundation, which Thibodeaux founded to help provide more opportunites for the youth in disadvantaged circumstances.
Thibodeaux told ESPN "I feel like crypto is such a new space and having an athlete involve in it kind of changes the dynamic of how athletes are viewed..."The dynamics of Thibodeaux's coin has been discussed, with the coin expected to be less than a dollar, and roughly 100,000 in circulation at launch. Thibodeaux is still forming plans for how to gift coins and engage with the community.
Kayvon Thibodeaux is the potential number 1 pick for the 2022 NFL Draft. He has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the NCAA's NIL rule change. In July, He announced an NFT deal with Phil Knight founder of Nike. Last month he announced a deal with United Airlines. As well as a six figure deal with a sports memorabilia company.
This cryptcurrency deal will be very interesting to track as Kayvon finishes up his last season, and becomes a top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
