On October 12, 2026, an accident occurred at Six Flags Over Georgia involving the Goliath roller coaster. The incident resulted in the death of one passenger and injuries to four others. After the accident, Six Flags' stock price fell sharply. The passenger was a 42-year-old man who was ejected from the roller coaster. Four children were also injured and transported to nearby hospitals. Investigators are still determining the cause.

The accident was followed by a significant drop in Six Flags’ stock. On October 13, shares of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, which trades under the ticker symbol FUN, fell as much as 16.3% during trading. The stock was already declining before the accident, but the incident was followed by a further drop in its value.

Six Flags also temporarily closed nine similar roller coasters across six North American parks. Officials made these closures as a safety precaution while investigating the accident. The company later announced plans to add seat belts to Goliath and other roller coasters with similar restraint systems.

The company was already facing financial challenges before the incident. Its stock had been declining throughout the year after financial difficulties following its 2024 merger with Cedar Fair. By October 13, Six Flags’ shares had fallen more than 30% since the beginning of 2026.

The accident was followed by a decline in Six Flags’ stock price, temporary ride closures, and additional safety measures. Although the stock was already losing value before the incident, the sharp drop on October 13 showed how the company’s stock performance changed after the accident.
