Hi, Everyone! My name is Nate Jefferson, and I’m a sophomore at MSU looking to major in finance. I’m a fresh face to WMA, as I recently joined in the fall of 2020. During my time in WMA, the club has been a great resource for learning more about the wealth management industry and also providing opportunities to get some hands-on experience. This summer, I will be a financial planning intern at Valeo in Indianapolis. I’m extremely excited about this opportunity and the future opportunities that await because they will allow me to become a more skilled and knowledgeable financial planner.

This year I will be WMA’s personal finance contributor. I’m thrilled about this role since learning about and teaching finance and financial literacy concepts is a great passion of mine. The older I get, the more I see how money influences our behavior and the outcome of our lives. People can naturally begin to feel overwhelmed as they become aware of the impact of money. However, I’ve seen when people properly educate themselves about money, and how to properly use it, they begin to feel less anxious about it and its uses. My goal is to help students see money as a tool, not a burden, and teach in an understandable way.

I look forward to creating useful personal finance articles this spring semester. I hope my articles will allow students to obtain valuable information about how to use their money in a way that will positively affect them for the rest of their lives.
