Your Portfolio Never Sleeps: Robinhood Hands the Wheel to AI

Imagine waking up to find that AI has spent the night buying and selling stocks for you. Believe it or not, this could be reality now. Recently, Robinhood unveiled a new AI technology that could change the basis of investing and bring in a new wave of investors. The brokerage’s executives were proud to roll out a slew of new features, most notably this AI trading bot. It cannot only make trades for users, but also answer market questions, create strategies based on user preferences, and more. Beginning this week, more than 29 million Robinhood users will have access to all these features.
With this new technology, users can choose from multiple OpenAI and Anthropic models, depending on what best suits their scenario. As artificial intelligence continues to spread across the industry, Robinhood has become the first to release a trading agent like this for such a large customer base. As with most AI tools, it can handle simple tasks and much more complex ones. A simple task this technology could complete is a user requesting, “Buy $200 of Apple stock.” The AI would then complete that task for the user, making share purchases much more convenient.
Another example of a task this AI could complete is running a loop that checks the market every morning and executes a trade when the user’s desired conditions are met. To complement that, users can also add a confirmation step to feel more comfortable leaving their portfolio in the hands of AI. With this approach, users would have to approve every transaction before the AI completes it.
In releasing this new tool, Robinhood says trading will become much more user-friendly while giving users tools comparable to those used on Wall Street. “We’re making Robinhood the best place in the world for active traders by delivering tools once reserved for hedge funds, big banks, and quant firms,” said Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev. Overall, this new technology is worth watching, as it could completely change the game of trading. For now, Robinhood plans to collect information, observe the new release, and make improvements as needed.
